Biography

 

Interior decorator, Veronica Nicholas, of Olney merged her passion for designing beautiful spaces and years of business management experience by acquiring a Decor & You business. Through Decor&You®, Veronica is taking her belief that your home should be your source of pride and comfort, and using the unique DecorPlanTM system, is creating fabulous interiors for the residents of Montgomery County.

 

Veronica says that when you walk into a room in your home you should feel both proud of how beautiful it looks and relaxed by the comfort that surrounds you. She believes that the rooms in a home should be as functional and comfortable as they are beautiful and stylish. It is also important that "your sense of pride come without feeling guilty about what it cost to achieve the look you love. Establishing a budget the client is comfortable with is as important as determining their style. You won't enjoy your gorgeous room if you're always bothered by how much you spent".


Veronica's decorating philosophy is that "the look of your professionally decorated room should ‘WOW' you every time you enter it while reflecting your personality and style not mine". Her background in decorating actually started in the fashion industry where she spent several years managing a major department store. She then went on to oversee the retail businesses for a world renowned museum group and was worried that a career in decorating wouldn't provide the same sense of fulfillment one gets from knowing they are working for a good cause like a non profit. However, the satisfaction of knowing she has helped a client realize their vision for a space as important as a room in their home is a wonderful feeling.

 

When Veronica is not working on designs for her clients, she enjoys spending time with her husband and toddler twins. She is a member of the Olney Chamber of Commerce and the non profit organization Fidos for Freedom who train service, hearing and therapy dogs. Through Fidos, Veronica and her husband visit patients at area hospitals and nursing homes with their two Labrador retrievers who are therapy dogs.
